Frequently asked questions.

What is nervous system regulation coaching?

Nervous system regulation coaching helps you understand how your body responds to stress and gives you practical tools to regulate your emotions, set boundaries, and respond instead of react. We work with the science of your stress responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) and combine it with shadow work, self-awareness practices, and actionable strategies. It's trauma-informed, evidence-based, and rooted in compassion, not just surface-level fixes.

Who do you work with?

I work with people dealing with chronic stress who want help reaching their goals without burning out in the process. My clients are high-functioning on the outside but exhausted on the inside; they're tired of pushing through, reacting instead of responding, and feeling like they can never catch up. You might be someone who:

  • Overcommits and struggles to say no

  • Has big goals but feels too overwhelmed to make progress

  • Shuts down when stressed or goes into freeze mode

  • Knows what to do but can't seem to follow through

  • Wants to build a life that feels sustainable, not just survive each day

I work with people who are ready to do the real work; the kind that requires honesty, self-reflection, and a willingness to look at the patterns keeping you stuck. My clients show up with:

  • A desire to understand themselves deeply, not just fix surface symptoms

  • Openness to trying new tools and practices (even when it feels uncomfortable!)

  • Commitment to their growth, even on the hard days

  • Curiosity about their nervous system and how it's been protecting them

If you're tired of band-aid solutions and want true nervous system regulation so you can actually reach your goals and feel good doing it, we're a good fit!

How long are sessions?

Sessions typically run about 90 minutes on average. However, I'm flexible and honor what you need. Some sessions may be shorter, and some may run longer if we're in deep work, I'll always communicate with you about timing and boundaries. Every person is different, and every session is tailored specifically to you. Even if two clients are dealing with similar issues, the way we work together will be completely unique to your needs, your nervous system, and where you are in your healing journey.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on your goals and where you're starting. Some clients work with me for a few months to build a solid foundation, while others continue for 12 months (or longer) as they deepen their healing. Renewal is always possible, and we'll discuss what feels right for you during our initial conversation, and you're never locked into anything that doesn't serve you. I’m here to help set you up so you don’t need me anymore! That length of time completely depends on where you are and what you need.

Do you offer packages or single sessions?

I offer both! You can book a single session to get a feel for my coaching style, or we can discuss a package that supports your goals. Packages provide consistency and deeper transformation, but I understand everyone's situation is different. Let's talk about what works best for you.

What happens in a first session?

In your first session, we'll start by getting clear on where you are right now and where you want to go. I'll ask questions to understand your stress responses, patterns, and what's been holding you back. Together, we'll create a plan that feels aligned with your values and realistic for your life. You'll leave with at least one actionable tool or practice you can use right away. Think of it like a painting: even if two people are working on the same issue, the way we approach it will look completely different because you are unique. Every session is tailored to you personally. My approach is warm, real, and rooted in nervous system science and not generic advice.

Do you take insurance?

No, I don't take insurance because coaching is not considered a medical service. However, some clients use HSA/FSA funds for wellness coaching; check with your provider to see if you're eligible. I also offer flexible payment options.

Is this therapy? What's the difference?

Great question! Coaching and therapy are different, though they can complement each other beautifully.

Therapy typically focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, processing past trauma, and is often covered by insurance.

Coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented. We work on building skills, creating tools, reaching goals, and regulating your nervous system so you can show up as the person you want to be. I'm trauma-informed and create a safe space, but I'm not a therapist and don't diagnose or treat mental illness.

If you're in active crisis or dealing with severe mental health symptoms, therapy is the right place to start. Many of my clients work with both a therapist and a coach, and that's a beautiful combination! Please see my disclaimer at the footer of this page.

What if I'm not sure if coaching is right for me?

That's completely normal! If you're curious but unsure, let's talk. You can send me a DM on Instagram (@coachashcoop), or email me through my contact page, or book a complementary discovery call. We'll chat about where you are, what you're looking for, and whether my approach feels like a good fit. There's no pressure, just an honest conversation.
